Case Study: Board of Education recruitment of diversity Teachers and educators

Posted: 03.15.2023
Board of Education partners with Diversityteachers.org to implement their diversity and inclusion mission and recruit Teachers and Principals from underrepresented groups. Client:   School Board of Education

Goal:  To implement their diversity and inclusion mission and recruit 100 Teachers and Principals from minority groups, including Latino and African Americans.

Their situation and past efforts:  The client's schools managed their recruitment and had postings and advertisements on general job boards, networking sites, and social media websites.  They also attended yearly University career fairs and some minority-focused events.  Some schools were more successful in their efforts, while others were not successful at all, and it affected their minority recruitment goals each year.

Diversityteachers.org solution:   Our team met with the Board of Education and proposed an inclusive recruitment strategy managed at the Board of Education level and deployed to all the schools so that all the schools benefited from one strategy.   The strategy included a yearly proposal in which all schools would post unlimited jobs, view unlimited resumes,  attend diversity career fairs,  social media, and job board advertising, newsletter advertising, career podcast advertising, and interviews with their diversity leaders streamed on our youtube channel, podcast channels, and social media channels.   Monthly online meetings were held with each school's stakeholders and the board of education stakeholders to review metrics and modify and implement any changes.

Results:  Over 100 Teachers and Principals were recruited from underrepresented groups, including Latinos and African-Americans, among other minorities.    Branding results were also measured, resulting in positive feedback and image for the Board of Education.   The partnership was extended to multiple years for continued recruitment.
